100 Days of School!

Today we had our 100th day of school! What a fun day it was.

This week we are on Lesson 21: Bb Butterfly - God Can Make Me New. I think we may spend a few extra days on this lesson because the girls like it so much and there is a ton of information. We are learning about the life cycle of a butterfly, where they live, and what they eat.

We did a scavenger hunt yesterday. I wrote several words down on the white board that began with the letter Bb. Then told the girls to go and find these items around the house. Of course they turned it into a race:-) I loved that when they couldn't find an item on the list they improvised and found a different item that started with the letter Bb.

Here are some pictures of the fun things we have done so far this week, and of our 100th day activities.

No, Sophia is not a mummy. She is a caterpillar in a cocoon.
Here she is busting out of her cocoon
Ava Caterpillar feeling pretty silly, while Sophia Butterfly wrapped her cocoon.

Free your inner butterfly!!
Lakely is investigating the paper shreds.
Hmm...what to do with all the torn up TP?

Bury Mom!

When it started hailing outside we were inspired to...

Make 100 tissue snowballs and
put them in 10 piles of 10 snowballs inside:-)

Then, we had to...

get into position

For our snowball fight!!!

30 seconds of mayhem followed by 5 minutes to set up the fort.
Totally worth it!

Other 100th day activities were:

1. Counting 100 popcorn kernels by 2's, sorting them into piles of 10, then popping and eating them. (side note: 100 kernels = 1 rounded tablespoon. 400 kernels = 1/3 cup.)

2. They also counted out 100 dried beans and then glued the beans on a piece of paper in the shape of the number 100 (see picture at top of post.)

3. We ended our day with breakfast for dinner. That's right, we made the number 100 using poached eggs, bacon and pancakes. Yum!

**We will be continuing our Butterfly lesson and I will post about it next week. There are so many other fun activities that we have already done over the past few days that I would like to share and great books we have read.

Here is one final picture of the girls enjoying their popcorn and a cup of hot cocoa after the "snowball" fight:-)

Blessings!
